Biography:
Tomohide Ikeya’s photography positions the human body in extreme circumstances. Ikeya places his figures in underwater or lunar-like environments, capturing images of contorted and strained bodies, subject to the violence of crashing ocean waves or the darkness of the moon. The photographs extract bodies from the comforts of a grounded existence on land, submerging them in challenging environs that are both familiar and alien. Ikeya amplifies the tumult of his images through stripped-down compositions. “Perhaps the essence of life, granted to everyone, is to live while struggling against death…Life is not just about visible beauty, but also about true strength, which we have from birth,” Ikeya has said.

Full Biography
Simone Arrigoni, classical pianist and multiple freediving world record holder, shares the motivation, challenges and emotions behind his world records, revealing the charm of a discipline that it would be an understatement to call a 'sport'. Forced to abandon his budding career as a concert pianist by the first of three serious accidents that abruptly changed his life course, a promise whispered to the freediver cousin he had tragically lost led him to attain unexpected heights in the daring and awe-inspiring sport.
Music and freediving intertwine to create Arrigoni's life story, an alternately thrilling, moving and inspiring account of a life shaped by unexpected obstacles and the sacrifices involved in reaching the summit of these two seemingly distant worlds.
From his world records diving beneath the ice to other impossible sporting challenges; from an uplifting course with four disabled youths to a breathtaking marriage proposal; from an unforgettable friendship with a genius pianist to freediving with dolphins in the name of scientific research: Simone Arrigoni's extraordinary experiences will take your breath away.

Beginning of Autumn 2011, a “Glamor” model agency offered me to photograph one of their nude models, Victoria. After only two years of experience, my technical skills in underwater photography were only at the beginning. It is at that time that “the female nude ”emerged for the first time in my pool and on my images. Even though the logistics of it was equally rudimentary (background, flash, make-up), the pure beauty revealed by these photos found admirers among my entourage. settings, mixing my own projects and commercial proposals in the years to come. “Aqua mare mater” originally symbolizes an embryo in its amniotic liquid and myself as a photographer in a pool experimenting a real rebirth. Despite my other work topics, I keep coming back to this one as a painter comes back to his never ending masterful secret painting.
